Important Notice — New Identity Verification Requirements
Your Company's Registered Office — New Identity Verification Requirements: this is a standard, industry wide requirement and does not indicate any issue with your affairs.
What is changing from 1 July 2026
The Australian Government has passed new anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) laws that take effect on 1 July 2026. Under these laws, any professional firm that provides a registered office address for a client entity is now classified as providing a "designated service." This means we are legally required to:
→ Verify the identity of the directors and beneficial owners of your company or trust
→ Maintain records of that verification for at least seven years
→ Conduct ongoing monitoring of the business relationship
→ Report certain matters to AUSTRAC (Australia's financial intelligence regulator) if required
These are not optional obligations. They apply to every entity using our address as a registered office, regardless of how long you have been a client or how straightforward your business is.
What We Need From You
We will send you a short identity verification form to complete online, for most clients this takes less than 10 minutes. If we do not hear from you by 17th June 2026, we will give you a call to discuss.
Questions? We're Happy to Help
We appreciate that this may feel like additional complexity. The reality is that these laws are designed to protect businesses like yours, they make it harder for criminals to exploit legitimate business structures, and having your entity properly documented is genuinely good governance.
