DROUGHT SUPPORT FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIAN FARMERS
The South Australian Government have announced a $55 million drought relief package to support farmers facing severe dry conditions. This relief aims to provide immediate support and help farmers prepare for the ongoing drought.
This package includes:
On-Farm Drought Infrastructure Rebate Scheme: Additional $13 million for rebates to assist with projects managing drought conditions.
Freight Cost Assistance: $4 million to help charities transport donated fodder.
Support for Rural Small Businesses: $3.5 million in additional support.
Water Infrastructure Upgrades: $1.4 million to co-invest with councils in upgrading regional standpipes.
Mental Health Support: $2.5 million for mental health services.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this relief, farmers must:
Demonstrate Impact: Show evidence of being affected by the drought conditions.
Location: Be located in the regions specified by the government, such as the Adelaide Hills and other drought-affected areas.
Application Process
Submit applications through the Department of Premier and Cabinet. The Department commits to processing applications within 30 days.
